Akita Shepherds are a large and powerful breed of designer dog. As you might expect from its name, an Akita Shepherd Mix is a cross between two dog breeds: the Akita Inu and the German Shepherd. Akita Shepherds are a generally healthy breed, but they have a proclivity to inherit a variety of health issues from their parents. They can live for 10-14 years they can have hip dysplasia, bloat, a congenital heart defect, degenerative myelopathy, Von Willebrand’s disease, or autoimmune thyroiditis.
